SSE has joined the other Big Six energy suppliers and raised its prices.

The average electricity prices will rise by 14.9% from 28 April for 2.8 million customer, however the gas prices will not be rising and will remain unchanged.

If you are dual fuel customer with SSE then you are likely to see an annual energy bill rise of 6.9%, or £73.

According to SSE 85% of its customers are on their standard variable tariff and will be affected by the April price increases.

Research last December by Ofgem, the energy regulator, showed that SSE customers on a standard variable tariff  could save approximately £98 per year simply by switching to their cheapest fixed tariff!
